The Alliance, formed in 2008, is a coalition of professional and advocacy organizations engaged in providing a range of services to cancer patients and survivors, including emotional and social support, and clinical care. The goal of the Alliance is to advance recommendations from the Institute of Medicine report, ”Cancer Care for the Whole Patient: Meeting Psychosocial Health Needs. ”
The Alliance has compiled hundreds of psychosocial resources available nationwide that address many types of support, types of cancer and other circumstances. It is our hope that these resources are more readily accessible to health care professionals, patients and caregivers, they are more likely to be utilized to address the unmet psychosocial needs that currently exist in cancer care. We also hope to expand this resource in the near future.
